What is a RAF file?
RAF (RAW Format) is Fujifilm's proprietary RAW image format used by Fujifilm digital cameras including the popular X-series (X-T5, X-T4, X-H2, X-H2S, X100V, X100VI) and medium format GFX series (GFX 100S, GFX 50S II). RAF files store unprocessed sensor data from Fujifilm's unique X-Trans CMOS sensors, which use a non-Bayer color filter array designed to reduce moire without an optical low-pass filter. RAF files also embed Fujifilm's renowned film simulation data (Velvia, Provia, Classic Chrome, Nostalgic Neg) and are typically 25-50 MB for APS-C and 50-120 MB for medium format.
RAF vs JPG — What's the difference?
RAF files contain unprocessed 14-bit sensor data with Fujifilm's full dynamic range of 13-15 stops, while JPG compresses images to 8 bits per channel with lossy compression. RAF files preserve the complete color information from the X-Trans sensor, allowing extensive post-processing adjustments to exposure, white balance, and film simulation. JPG files are much smaller and universally viewable but discard the editing latitude that makes RAF files valuable to photographers.
When should you convert RAF to JPG?
Convert RAF to JPG when you need to share your Fujifilm photos via email, social media, or messaging apps. JPG is required for web publishing, online galleries, and most printing services. If you have finished editing your RAF files and want lightweight, universally compatible copies for sharing or archiving, JPG at high quality provides an excellent balance of visual quality and file size.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this converter really free?
Yes, completely free with no limits on file count or file size (up to 100MB per file).
Are my files safe?
Files are processed on secure servers and automatically deleted after 15 minutes.
Will I lose quality converting RAF to JPG?
RAF files contain more dynamic range than JPG can represent, so some tonal information is reduced. However, our converter produces high-quality JPGs at 85% quality that look excellent for sharing, printing, and web use.
Which Fujifilm cameras use RAF?
All Fujifilm X-series and GFX-series cameras shoot RAF, including the X-T5, X-T4, X-H2, X-H2S, X100V, X100VI, X-Pro3, GFX 100S, and GFX 50S II.
Are film simulations applied during conversion?
The converter uses the embedded camera settings as a baseline. For specific film simulation looks (Velvia, Classic Chrome, etc.), you may want to process your RAF files in Fujifilm's X RAW Studio or Capture One first.
